The Bunker-Cities

These cities were designed with longevity in mind. Capable of sustaining five-hundred thousand people for an indefinite period of time, they include enough land within the underground cavern for living space and agriculture. The cities are self-contained caverns, reinforced by titanium alloys that form the walls of the underground dome.

Construction of these cities began in 2137, five years after the war in Europe spread to the rest of the world. Sixty cities were planned, each funded by various corporations and governments – and each designed with redundancies in regards to information storage. Histories, sciences, math – all the information of the previous two millennia were saved and archived in sixty different databases and stored deep within the cities under heavy security.

Seven of the cities were never sealed, and their populations were lost to nuclear fire and chemical residues afterward.
